About Charlie

Bio

I am passionate about people, the oceans, and data, and dedicated to supporting local leadership in fisheries management and conservation. Having spent the last fifteen years working and learning alongside small scale fishing communities, I love nothing more than talking about fish and fishing with fishers and being elbow deep in octopus ink and fish scales. However, I am also partial to an excel spreadsheet and champion the engagement of fishers in deciding what data gets collected, who collects it, and how it is used to tell a story - ensuring the outcomes are useful for local communities first. I am currently the global technical lead for fisheries management and conservation at Blue Ventures, a PhD student at the University of Exeter and an Edinburgh Ocean Leader.
