About Yolanda
Bio
Yolanda is co-founded and director of the Latin-American Marine Educators Network (RELATO) and
Edinburgh Ocean Leader 2020. She studied Marine Science in Spain and did her Masters in Science
Education in Chile. She has been supporting marine conservation through education during the last nine
years by designing, implementing, evaluating, and improving education programs for universities and
NGOs. Yolanda has combined science education tools, ocean literacy, community engagement, and
communication strategies to create marine education programs that allow participants to use ocean
knowledge in their daily lives to make responsible decisions and to share this information with their
communities to involve them in marine conservation processes, being ocean leaders.
Now she is working as independent cosultant on different institutions, developing marine education projects and writting ocean informative books for kids from 0 to +99.
