Theresa Rose Sebastian is a climate and social justice activist. She is also the co founder of international NGO "Re Earth Initiative". She is originally from Kerala, India but currently reside in the rebel city of Cork in Ireland. She has been actively working in the climate and social justice field for the last 3 years but has indirectly been an advocate for both from a very young age. Her work for social justice has been focused quite heavily around Comprehensive Sex Education, Access to Education and Women Empowerment. Her work in the climate sphere began in 2018 with the horrendous Kerala floods. 400+ people died and hundreds still missing. Towns were submerged, cities flooded and livelihoods lost. This experience changed her as she feared for what was to come. She was extremely privileged to come home to Ireland. She decided that if this is the fight to protect the land and people she loves, then this is the fight she shall fight until justice is achieved. Her work is revolved around three key pillars - education, empowerment and reform. Her work is driven by her love for the land and the people, alongside her passion for justice. She is always looking to network and meet new people. Her catchphrase is "How Can I Help?" Projects/Experiences 1. Organised We The Planet Earth Day campaign in 2020 2. Organised strikes on local, national and international level 3. Created an educational curriculum for schools in Uganda 4. Organised international conferences for the advancement of climate education 5. Currently organising an assembly for young people to contribute to decision making 6. Currently organising a free accessible resource for young people to become active change makers in their communities 7. Manages social media marketing for various projects 8. Writing a report to the UNCRC on Ireland's responsibility to young people and their rights 9. Currently in the midst of planning women empowerment sessions across India 10. The next thing to be done to ensure a justice oriented and sustainable future!
