Alexandra M. Cohen is the President of the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation and President of the Amazin’ Mets Foundation. She directs strategic initiatives and leads the day-to-day operations of both non-profit organizations. In 2021, Mrs. Cohen and her husband Steven A. Cohen surpassed $1 billion of philanthropic giving, much of which reflects a personal connection with the causes and communities they support. Mrs. Cohen co-founded the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation with her husband in 2001. The Foundation is committed to inspiring philanthropy and community service by creating awareness, offering guidance, and leading by example to show the world what giving can do. Through the Foundation, they have given more than $700 million in gifts to organizations that improve children’s healthcare and education, serve the underserved, support the arts, protect the environment, and further research in the areas of Lyme and tickborne disease and psychedelics therapy. Since her family’s purchase of the New York Mets major league baseball team in 2020, Mrs. Cohen has led the Amazin’ Mets Foundation, which is committed to providing needed services and opportunities to children, families, and under-served groups in the neighborhoods and communities of the team. Mrs. Cohen was born in Harlem, New York and grew up in Washington Heights. After studying Communications at New York’s Manhattan College, she worked in the financial industry until she married Steven in 1992. Since then, Mrs. Cohen focused on raising her family and driving their philanthropic endeavors. Mrs. Cohen is a member of the honorary Council of the Bob Woodruff Foundation.
