Nathan Price

Educator/Teacher

Nathan Price teaches in the Social Sciences Department at National Cathedral School in Washington, DC. His specialties are American history, World Geography, the examination of modernity and the perennially intriguing intersections between people and place—nature, culture, and power. He has worked as an educator in the Washington, DC area for nearly 30 years--both as a teacher at independent schools and as a higher education administrator, serving at length as special assistant to the provost at American University and previously as assistant director of the University of Maryland's Science, Technology & Society programs at College Park. Nathan trained in the humanities and life sciences (he has also taught biology and AP Environmental Science for many years). He gratefully receives alumni communications from, and proudly supports, Macalester College, Yale University, and the University of Maryland (CP). In the interstitial spaces of life, he is chipping away at a cultural landscape history that unearths the regional "bold coast,” touristic identity of early coastal Maine and Mount Desert Island, where he grew up on its "backside"...once upon a time.
