Bio
Lisa Shalett is the accidental co-founder of Extraordinary Women on Boards (EWOB), a powerhouse peer-to-peer community of 1,000+ highly accomplished women board directors focused on board excellence and staying cutting edge in a fast-moving world. A former Goldman Sachs Partner, she now serves as an independent board director and advisor, in addition to entrepreneur. She’s known as a connector of people and ideas across domains, and a curious and trusted thought partner, especially when people navigate inflection points in their work and lives.
Lisa’s career has been anything but linear. She ended up on Wall Street because of her Japan background, which started with a homestay experience at age 15 that changed her life. Over her 25+ year career, which began in Japanese Equities, she moved across capital markets, risk, brand, and digital transformation, often stepping into moments of change or complexity. At Goldman Sachs, she held global leadership roles in Equities, Compliance, Legal, Audit and the Executive Office, where she led brand and digital strategy during the financial crisis. At Brookfield, she stepped off the board to become the company’s first Head of Strategic Innovation.
She currently serves on the boards of PennyMac Financial and Japan VC fund MPower Partners, and is a Trustee for Lord Abbett’s Alternative Funds Boards, in addition to some non-profits. She is an eager learner and a dedicated mentor who seeks out reverse mentors. Lisa earned her BA in East Asian Studies (Japan) at Harvard, and an MBA from Harvard Business School. She lives in, and loves, NYC.
