Bio
I moved around a lot as a kid, all over the south & Cali. I had a revolving door of step parents, so I had to learn at an early age how to fend for myself. I thought at one point that I wanted to take over Wall Street, but after getting a taste of that, I knew it wasn't for me. I feel into Hospitality on accident - and it gets in your blood. I had no idea that I loved event planning until I walked into a corporate event. I spend 10 year working my way up through the ranks until eventually I needed something new & less demanding of my time. A friend called and asked if I wanted to sell green beans one day & I totally thought that he only sold green beans. I had never considered food distribution as an option, and thought it sounded boring. I was wrong. Three years, and three jobs later I am just starting to hit my groove. Restaurants are my love language. They are where people go to celebrate, court, pitch, focus, grieve & so much more. I am proud of being a part of a company who's dedicated to helping people make it in the industry that serves our community in ways that most people take for granted.
I'm passionate about
Food - Not just eating it, but using it to join people at a table. Making them remember their childhood, find inspiration & fuel the day. I am also passionate about disrupting things to create cross-departmental collaborations. Every sales organization I know has silo's and my company is no different. Increasing D&I is crucial to this, and I will probably spend most of my career trying to undo the cycles of the past. My favorite thing to hear is "we have always done it this way" because I know that means that there's a problem to solve, and I will probably get to blow some thought processes up along the way.
Lastly - mental health. I did not grow up in a community in which talking about, acknowledging or taking responsibility for your mental health was a 'thing' - I'd like to be the generation who write a different ending to our families legacy. Bring it out, lay it on the table, feel the love, grieve, have the hard conversation and reap the rewards of connection after.
