Bio

Founder and CEO of AMPATHY, an impact news and fin tech donations platform. Amapthy has reengineered the mobile; digital advertising attention economy to put money directly into people’s pockets. With over 15 years of experience in creating the intersection of digital media, journalism, and social impact, Brian is the Founder and CEO of Ampathy, a company that leverages neuroscience, AI and storytelling to empower individuals and organizations to make a positive difference in the world. Considered the founder of the first Impact News platform and As the “Rick Rubin of Impact ,Brian formerly held the position the Senior Vice President of Social Impact and Social Innovation at HuffPost, where he founded and led the award-winning Impact, Education, and Good News verticals, reaching over 25 million people monthly. Brian also developed the 'How You Can Help' series for the Pulitzer Prize-winning 'Beyond The Battlefield', and pioneered social impact-related business and product innovations on HuffPost's platform. Brian also founded end edited the TED Weekends on the Huffington Post that generate over 100M video views of TED talks Brian is passionate about using digital technology and media to amplify the voices and stories of those who are working to solve the most pressing challenges of our time. I am also an avid student of innovation, constantly learning and experimenting with new ways to better the people and the world around us. Seeing a demand for companies to align their brand values with relevant editorial content, Brian invented what is now known as the social impact publishing model. Partners include, but are not limited to Johnson and Johnson, CISCO, TED, VICE, The Goldman Sachs Foundation, State Farm, Chipotle, NRG Energy, Citibank, Chevy, Paramount Pictures, etc. As a driver of innovation in the philanthropic content space, Brian continually lectures at tech and media conferences about "content as a means for social change". Brian has spoken on the main stage at events such as the UN Mashable's Social Good Summit and SXSW presenting a keynote with Biz Stone, the co-founder of Twitter. Brian also teaches the occasional class on CSR around "doing well while doing good" at New York University and USC's Marshall School of Business. As a 9/11 First Responder, Brian works alongside and with Cedars Sinai PTSD WTC Mental Health Registry in order to remove stigma from trauma. Brian serves on Global Communications Advisory Committee for the Council on Foreign Relations, is a Fellow for the Tribeca Disruptive Foundation and is a Judge for the Gucci Tribeca Documentary Fund. Brian also takes part along with various other technology companies with The White House's Innovation for Disaster Response and Recovery Initiative.
