About Emerson
Bio
I'm an entrepreneur from Edmonton, Alberta and a co-founder of Gen Y Inc., Canada's first Gen Y-focused recruitment and consulting firm. Over the last years, I've collaborated, consulted and spoken at organizations such as the United Nations, OECD, Pearson Learning and European Commission. As the Editor-in-Chief of The Wanderer Online, I run one of Canada's largest student-driven daily online magazines, with over 100,000 readers on just a $250 budget. As the Co-Chair and Co-Founder of the Globe and Mail's National Student Advisory Council, I help run a 200-person student board that provides direction to the newspaper's education section. I care deeply about entrepreneurship as a means to unleash individuals' innate creativity, and hope to grow Gen Y Inc. while serving as a positive role-model for my young peers.

The TED story
It is through Ken Bautista that I first learned of TEDxEdmonton. Back in June 2013, I organized a conference in Edmonton called Stand Up for Edmonton, where Edmontonians of all backgrounds came together to talk about the roles of the city's largest university in Edmonton's social, cultural and economic fabric. Ken and I met here, and kept in close touch ever since that point. In August 2013, I was asked to take on TEDxEdmonton and bring together a young and enthusiastic group for the 2014 version. Fast-forward a few months, and here we are today!
