An idea worth spreading
With recent zoning changes, developers in Vancouver can now build “super mansions” up to four times larger on a standard lot. Without heritage protections in place, the city’s most iconic mid-century modern homes are quietly vanishing.
An average of 60 modernist homes are now lost to the landfill every year, with only half still standing today. If this trend continues at this rapid pace, the last remaining examples could vanish within the next 20 years.
