Bio

Chris Segal is the principal of a private investment firm, CSS Capital, LLC, which takes value-oriented equity positions in both private and public companies. He is also on the investment committee of the Segal family office --Prairie Management Group -- where he advises on investments opportunities across a broad range of asset classes. Mr. Segal earned his Bachelor Degree from Dartmouth College and his MBA from the Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management. Upon getting his business degree in 1993, he went to work in his family business, Crate and Barrel, where he held senior management positions in store operations, real estate, merchandising and direct marketing. The company was sold in 1998 and Mr. Segal left in 2000 to invest in retail and direct marketing companies. In 2003 Mr. Segal purchased the design retailer Chiasso out of bankruptcy and over the next ten years he re positioned and ran it as a multi-channel merchant of modern home furnishings. Mr. Segal is a member of the Economic Club of Chicago, a director of the Better Government Association, and is on the boards of the Lurie Childrens Hospital and the Thresholds social service agency. He and his wife Karen reside in Glencoe and have three children, Andrew-21, Jonathan-19 and Caroline-13.
