About Earl

Bio

New Mexico native. Recovering New Yorker. Working with Lily Yeh is a homecoming for me. We first worked together at the Village of Arts and Humanities over 2 decades ago! Then as now I worked as an assistant to Lily which basically means doing anything and everything you have the capacity and energy to do! I have written successfully funded grant proposals, led a community organizing project, developed a website, managed social media and traveled to China to document the creation of a 100-foot wide by 20-foot tall mosaic mural at a school in Beijing. When I wasn’t working with Lily, I worked as an independent performance curator, producer, nightlife promoter and artist manager with a focus on LGBTQ+ and independent artists. I conceived and produced the acclaimed theatrical cabaret “Weimar New York” (Joe’s Pub, SFMOMA, LA Art Weekend, Bard College) and developed and toured Joey Arias’ Billie Holiday Centennial Concert. (Lincoln Center American Songbook, Southbank Centre, REDCAT). I twice served as Festival Director for HOT! Festival at Dixon Place, the longest continually running festival of queer performance in the world. I was recipient of the first-ever Museum of Arts and Design (MAD) FUN Fellowships for the Creative Practice of Nightlife and a visiting fellow at NYU for the Art of Nightlife with Vaginal Davis. I have had a long interest in media reform and media literacy. I was a founding board member of Media Tank, an early media reform nonprofit in Philadelphia that helped to organize public hearings for the FCC and also led the first-ever protests of the agency. My current passion project is natural building. I recently spent 4 months in Isan (NE Thailand) volunteering with Gaia Ashram on the construction of an eco-kindergarten classroom using natural building techniques and a green roof.
