Jose Serrano-Reyes

I co-founded Fame Theory llc, which is somewhere between the business of media, and a non-profit social art project. Our mission is to investigate and affect the ways in which cultural innovation is funded, grown, and subsequently proliferated throughout culture. In practice, we design real world games and online cultural happenings for the most connected, trusted, and fastest-rising social networks in the global media to do one thing: make good ideas famous. Fame Game (famegame.com) was the first online project. Trust Art (trustart.org) is the most recent. The Brain Game is the next. Before Fame Theory, I spent four years as an economic analyst/forecaster for the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, engaged in the day-to-day work of stabilizing the world’s credit, currency, and capital market systems. I started individualized graduate work on social mechanism design at Columbia University, and dropped out after two semesters to do it in the real world. I graduated with a BA from the University of Pennsylvania, and completed an undergraduate fellowship at Yale University for research in cultural economics. I was born in Santo Domingo in 1979.

TED Palm Springs is the craziest place I've been to. We were invited to unveil Trust Art, and in the spirit of celebrating alternative economies, we found an artist who offered up his Joshua Tree home to us (for 7 days) for $1. We were able to escape the bubble of the Riviera and travel to another brilliant reality everyday.
