John D. Ryan Chief Executive Officer National Center for Missing & Exploited Children John Ryan was elected CEO of the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children in June, 2012 after serving more than 12 years on its board, most recently as chairman. For 16 years before that, Ryan was Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel at AOL Inc. and headed the Public Safety & Criminal Investigations Unit. He also served as the liaison with law enforcement to coordinate investigations and prosecutions of criminal activities including Internet offenses against minors. In 1998, he co-produced a "Cyber Crime Fighting" training video for law enforcement on investigating Internet crimes. Prior to joining AOL Inc., Ryan was the Director of Investigative Affairs at AT&T Wireless in New York. Ryan also worked for 14 years at the Office of the District Attorney in Bronx County, New York where he served as the Assistant District Attorney and Chief of Major Offenses. He received his B.A. from Fordham University and his J.D. from St. John's University School of Law. His professional achievements include assisting in the development of international protocols to combat Internet crimes against minors. In December 1997, Ryan served as the chairperson for the Law Enforcement Committee during the Families Online Summit, which was held in Washington, D.C.
