I founded Shindig a company whose patented technology powers large scale online video chat events. On Shindig a speaker can address an audience of thousands. They can give a talk, be interviewed or play multimedia. They can share the stage with prescreened audience members and answer their questions face-to-face before the entire gathering or simply throw open the floor to video chat participants on a first come first served basis. Meanwhile audience members are free to video chat privately with one another adding a natural social component to the online event. In short Shindig enables all the dynamics of a physical event at internet scale. The platform has application to online education, media events, enterprise communications, government 2.0, gaming, dating and more. Everything from video chat political town halls, live podcast sessions, company all hands meetings, online conferences and,all manner of large scale group collaboration .
Previously I was in the music business. Beginning in 1985 with the release of a modest collection of old TV themes called Television's Greatest Hits I built one of the largest US independent record labels and music publishers. Over the course of its 24 year history the company I led, TVT Records, achieved some 30 Gold, Platinum and Multi Platinum releases. The business success of TVT's independent model was matched by our creative successes with the discovery and development of such diverse artists as Nine Inch Nails, Pitbull, Lil Jon, Underworld, Ja Rule, Brian Jonestown Massacre, KMFDM, Sevendust and Dashboard Confessional. TVT was also on the forefront of music's transition to the digital age TVT made all its content free online in 2000. It was also the only label to settle with Napster. I testified before the Judiciary Committee on Digital Rights. invested in many internet and internet music companies and served on the Board of Musicmatch.

So if evolution is efficient and evolution depends on random accidental mutations, are accidents efficient?
