Bio
I received a B.A. in Economics in 2000 from FAAP(aqui eu colocaria em portugues o nome completo), a private college in São Paulo. I then went on to study at the Getulio Vargas Foundation’s Business School (aqui eu colocaria em portugues mesmo o nome) where I received an M.A. in Economics with an emphasis in Applied Finance in 2003 anda DSC in Business Administration in 2008. Then, in 2008, I received a Ph.D. in Business from Spain’s Instituto de Empresa Business School, which ranked 7th in the latest Financial Times worldwide ranking of business schools.
GPA scores obtained in the aforementioned programs taken were (out of 10, in the first two cases): GVF MA, 9,24 / GVF Doctorate, 9,34 / IE Ph.D, A and A-
Since 2008, I have been a professor of Finance at the GVF´s School of Economics in São Paulo, where I am in charge of the mandatory Finance I course, and I serve as the Associate Dean of International Affairs. I have worked as teacher for the last (numeros) years, teaching courses in Finance, Creativity and Quantitative Methods. Since 2009, I have received eleven recognition prizes such as Best Professor in MBAs, BA in Economics and BA in Business. I have also been invited three times to serve as the Sponsor/Honored Professor of some commencement ceremonies.
I have also published several books in Portuguese, including Applied Statistics. (A list of my publications can be provided upon request.)
Consulting / Neurology / Creativity / Quantitative Marketing / Finance of Innovation / Personal Finance and Credit Risk and Policy are also part of my experience.
I also was the co-founder of the GV Cult. This project gives the opportunity for FGV students, professors and workers to immerse themselves in many different cultural aspects. It involves a variety of art forms, gastronomy, sustainability and research. The participants have an opportunity to explore and expand their creative capacity. FGV forms leaders and thinkers for the business world. When those leaders and thinkers develop their creativity with intensity within FGV, they will then become more efficient, being able to easily adapt to the real world, and overcome challenges with new ideas and solutions. GV cult sets up a cycle of social life benefits bringing and generating knowledge about new areas which would be arduous to access otherwise. GV cult focuses on laboratories and research developments that encourage students and participants to seek out more cultural knowledge.
Along with this, I also devote time to the major Brazilian newspaper Folha de Sao Paulo SP as a weekly columnist, and I write a daily blog about business and finances.
In addition to the business and financial background I’ve built, I am a professional pianist with emphasis in jazz and bossa nova ( Brazilian jazz). Improvisation is a thread in all my work. As a professor of creativity and business and also a musician, I have developed a fusion between both areas, bringing all I love together.
I'm passionate about
Each person can develop creativity and be driven to make that difference.. I believe the human beings are far more dynamic than businesses and universities think .
An idea worth spreading
The idea that art and business have much more in common than most of people acknowledge. A person who has a natural talent and creativity for music may conquer the world . But if the talent and creativity meet technique , discipline and real consciousness , the legacy will be eternal. Success in business can be achieved by many people but when the art and creativity within are perceived , the sky is the limit.
Areas of expertise

The TED story
I am an economist and professor of creativity and strongly believe that great ideas can change the world.
When I think about my TEDx story, a quote comes to my mind from a book I have read many years ago by Antoine de Saint-Exupery: “If you want to build a ship, don’t drum up the men to gather wood, divide the work, and give orders. Instead, teach them to yearn for the vast and endless sea”.
I have known TEDx for a few years now, but my deep and close contact with it happened when the organization commission invited me to be the host in Brazil for its first edition in the country on October 27th of 2012. “ Knowing how to do it” was the main theme . There were 12 fascinating speakers from many different areas of expertise exchanging experiences about what motivates them to work every single day.
I believe the best ideas come from excellent questions. Tedx is the environment for it.
