Eva de Lera

Senior Strategist, Office of Learning Technologies, Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) since 2001. She is also the principal investigator of the Joy of Learning project and a member of the Affective Technology Research Group, exploring and designing Affective Educational Technology methods to help enhance engagement and motivation in online learning environments. She has been doing research in the areas of image and video analysis of face and body gestures (co-creating the Ten Emotion Heuristics and the ENJOY Guidelines), human computer interaction and user experience. She received her M.A. degree in Information and Knowledge Society from the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya in 2008 and her B.A. degree in Psychology from New York University in 1998.

Smiling for a better world. If we spread the benefits of smiling we would increase happiness in the world. It has been demonstrated that 1) smiling causes the person to feel better and stay more positive, and 2) causes the person they're with to be more positive.
