Bio
Amy V. Dewhurst learned filmmaking from legends including Sydney Pollack (The Interpreter), and Martin Scorsese (The Departed). She assisted director Kirsten Sheridan (In America) on the Academy Award nominated August Rush. She was hired by its’ producer, Richard B. Lewis (Backdraft) for feature film development. Dewhurst was VP of Production for Mariel Hemingway’s company, The Willing Way and was an original host and producer, for Oasis TV. She secured the network’s first televised news piece, an interview with “Amma; the hugging saint.”
During the 2018 midterm elections Amy produced The Boxer Podcast Live at The Wrap’s Power Women Summit in Downtown Los Angeles, where Senator Barbara Boxer, political influencers Nicole Boxer and Alyssa Milano implored attendees to get-out-the-vote. She co-produced Congressman Tim Ryan’s Real Food Revolution Book Launch party, at New York City’s ABC Carpet & Home, and was a senior staffer for environmental independent candidate Jack Hidary, in the 2013 New York City mayoral race.
Amy was the original head of editorial at ALOHA, building and growing this health/wellness brand and its’ content vertical. She was responsible for the online magazine, The ALOHA Way, its’ contributors and community network. During her tenure as the head of public relations, Amy secured placement on Oprah’s Favorite Things List, in Vogue Magazine, The New York Times and many more. As the director of business development, Dewhurst forged the first retail partnerships with Donna Karan’s Urban Zen, New York City’s ABC Carpet & Home, and the national chain, Urban Outfitters. She later secured mass distribution in all Sprouts Grocery stores and was part of a team that sold into select Starbucks, all GNCs and Targets nationally. An ALOHA colleague funded a seed round in a similar start-up Your Super. Amy was the only US hire and broke the brand in key markets, by attaining placements on Good Day La, in Forbes Magazine, Well + Good and many more. She secured Your Super as the vegan protein of Wanderlust Hollywood, on shelves at the trendy Erewhon Market, and online with national partner Free People.
For more then a decade, Amy was a consulting producer, and documentarian for Bhakti Fest. She co-produced, and provided all writing for the album Hari's Lila in memory of Pushti Marg Pandit and kirtan wallah, Shyam Das. Dewhurst complied, transcribed, edited and provided additional writing for Conversations with Ram Dass a collection of conversations between Bhakti Fest Founder Sridhar Silberfein and Ram Dass. She published and wrote the foreward for Sri Hanuman Chalisa Book, by Jennifer Mazzucco. Dewhurst co-produced and wrote copy for Taos Hanuman; a collection of chaleesas (including; Krishna Das, Jai Uttal, Trevor Hall, Govindas & Radha and more) to benefit the Neem Karoli Baba Taos Temple.
Dewhurst co-edited, and wrote the introduction for Namarupa Magazine Winter 2019 Issue. She is a regular contributor to LA Yoga & Ayurveda Magazine, and has written for publications and journals internationally. Amy’s first book, Heartbreak Yoga was released by Changing Lives Press in 2013. She recently resided in, Amritapuri, Amma’s Ashram in Kerala, India. There she edited vocational training manuals for local village women to qualify for governmental health care jobs thru the NGO, Ammachi Labs.
Dewhurst is founder and president of Sense + Color a full-service production and consulting company, working with conscious brands, individuals , projects and events.
