I was born in the state of Missouri in the United States and went between my mom in Missouri and my dad in Omaha, Nebraska. Throughout my childhood, I was consistently outside hiking, camping, canoeing and swimming and these are still my hobbies today. In 1996 I had my daughter and moved to Missouri to raise her in a small town. In 2004 my daughter and I moved to Columbia, Missouri where I started my first fulltime teaching position and made a home. It was during my early teaching experience that I realized my love for interdisciplinary education and experiential learning, which led me to explore international teaching options and eventually get a job in Singapore, where I currently reside. In Singapore, I have been blessed to be apart of the Quest program which allows students to earn high school credits through interdisciplinary project-based experiences. I also am married to an educator who works at Singapore American School and provides students with organizational and interpersonal techniques in a supervised study program. We have been in Singapore since 2014 and love our life exploring the area and teaching at the American school.

Being a teacher means I'm passionate about education however, for me education happens all the time. Curiosity and humility are key ingredients to learning that are often neglected in favour of teacher-led education activities. I feel like people should be more open to understanding a persons' capabilities by talking to a person about their experiences and helping to see opportunities for personal growth.

Embracing depression makes coping easier. Degrees have little bearing on intelligence and capabilities.
