Bio
I like to say I've lived at least 4 lives in my short time on Earth. I've been or am a professional musician, soldier, veterinarian, educator, author. I am stubborn, competitive, compassionate, and introverted with a wry sense of humor and lots of experience to share. It's my goal in life to inspire others to do good, be well, and learn always. Someday I'd love to be on the TED stage, but until then I'm planning to soak up every moment of the experience as an attendee.
I'm passionate about
Providing opportunities for under-privileged people to obtain quality education. Improving the quality of teaching in Higher Education. Helping people learn, understand, and value the animals that we have evolved to serve us in so many ways - as companions, food, and entertainment. I love words! So qualitative research is wonderful because it gives me a chance to write eloquently while still doing work grounded in theory and science.
An idea worth spreading
Msomi in the Kijiji (Msomie-INK) - taking education to those in rural Kenya who do not have access to formal schooling. We want to encourage and engage villagers of all ages to help them understand the value of education by demonstrating its power through community driven, place-based lessons.

The TED story
I have been to TEDWomen twice (once in person and once virtually) but this if my first trip to TED and I am so thrilled to be part of it. Looking forward to meeting new people, seeing some previous TED connections, and listening to a whole lot of interesting thoughts.
