A social Entrepreneur, I am the Founder of Step Up Advisers, a consultancy dedicated to crafting new economic models that foster Natural, Social and Economic capital value creation. We focus on strategically designing radically different partnerships across for and non profits as well as Governments. I have successfully led many for-profit and not-for profit organizations to scale with an approach grounded in design thinking. My passion for the transformative power of education and to redefining knowledge transfer for women and children in the global south has worked towards catalyzing Governments and other significant stakeholders to invest in technology enabled, holistic and inclusive learning opportunities for the most marginalised. I am currently the Entrepreneur in Residence and Director of Climate Justice for CARE USA. I have done extensive work within the Agri Food sector to bring a digital Agri Academy Learning Management System to life for smallholder farmers. At its heart is a direct and verifiable mechanism for linking climate finance to transition towards regenerative practice to ensure sustainable economic, social and environmental returns. I am also the award winning former CEO and now Board Director of Barefoot College International. Barefoot College International’s extensive portfolio of programs and agri livelihood businesses include Access to Energy-Barefoot Women Solar Engineers, Women’s Wellness & Nutrition, Education, Women’s Enterprise & Agency, Vocational Training and Digital Technology. Barefoot College ranks amongst the top 20 Global NGO ranking from The Global Journal Top 500 list. Barefoot College International and Bindi International (India) continue to work with a network of more than 136 partner civil society and fellow social entrepreneurial organizations, with philanthropy and private sector. Global collaborations with companies such as Apple, Credit Suisse, Oracle, Goldman Sachs, Hogan Lovels, and ENEL together with Multilateral partnerships for impact such as UNWOMEN, UNESCO, UNDP GEF Small Grants; have proven the far reaching impact Social Enterprise can have in building out ‘templates for scale’, able to be adopted by National and Local Government. Its commitment to Government advocacy has led to embedded Government programs in more than 9 countries. I am the 2018 Hillary Institute Laureate for my Global Leadership in the areas of Climate Change, Poverty Reduction, Social Justice and Economic Empowerment of Women, a Schwab Foundation Social Entrepreneur and International Ambassador of the International Solar Alliance, a historic collaboration between President Macron of France and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. I am committed to developing innovative public, private and technology partnerships that enable grass roots innovation to scale, through hi tech/hi touch solutions that demystify & decentralize power, increase transparency and inclusion, driving positive climate practice alongside economic gains I was born in Christchurch, New Zealand and I attended University of Connecticut, University College London and Harvard. I currently live between Switzerland, India and East Africa. I love adventure and am happiest in nature thus been at varying times been a keen explorer, an Explorer, Technical Climber, Adventure Skier, Rescue Diver and Expedition Leader: organized and led both climbing and diving expeditions to some of the most remote and pristine land and seascapes on the planet
