Marcel Furmie

Marcel is an internationally recognised project and technology solutions management specialist. Serving as the EMEA (Europe Middle-East & Africa) region leader for a special advisory group of the Project Management Institute, Marcel has spoken on panels across some of the largest project management conferences in the world, including presenting and appearing on panels in Berlin and Los Angeles as well as representing the group in workshops in Washington D.C and Amsterdam. Recently, Marcel was nominated to represent the PMI at the esteemed TED 2019 conference in Vancouver, Canada in April before heading over to Dublin, Ireland in May to present at the 2019 Leadership Institute Meeting. In addition to these international engagements, Marcel serves as a Project Manager for an Ed-Tech company in Cape Town, South Africa called ‘GetSmarter’. Over the past decade, Marcel has gained experience at a range of tech companies, starting at Microsoft at age 18 and pivoting to become a Linux systems administrator, before developing an interest in project management, and ultimately, product management. Marcel holds an honours degree in Management and Law from the University of London (college: LSE) and was recently admitted to a master's program at the University of Southern California’s Marshall Business School where he will focus on the Product Management and Innovation track.
