At a young age I lost my father. He ended his own life and for many years I hardly talked about it. I did not want people to pity me. Somehow random people kept coming into my life, wanting to tell me about their thought about ending their life. I never told them that I know more about it and my father took his own life. I kept my mouth shut for so many years. Then someone told me it doesn’t happen to everyone, that people just start telling them this. This is a sign..it has a reason. I needed to speak up and share my story and thoughts about it, so I did. It helped a lot of people, who also lost someone, who had ended their lives. I realives how powerful sharing stories is. After sharing I started to feel free! This is why I love TED. It gives speakers a platform to share their stories and also makes them feel free.
