I was at TED 2. At that conference, we all took a picture wearing different colored T-shirts. I'm in that picture wearing a yellow T-shirt, which I later traded with Skip Stritter for a blue one. At TED 3, Adobe launched Photoshop, and I was there to help people create their first Photoshop images. I made an image of Tom Reilly with a flag superimposed, so he looked like a superhero. Russel Brown made T-shirts of this image and they were the "must have" item of the conference. It was at TED 4 or 5 that I met Douglas Adams. We kept up an email correspondence for a while, because I think he was hoping I would buy his villa in Southern France that he wanted to get rid of. He told me a story at that conference that I'll never forget. Why don't they help really smart people give better talks? Why is the chocolate at TED so bad? Why aren't there discussion forums on this site?
