Bio
Entrepreneur, investor, community builder, father.
My primary focus is on acquiring health and wellness businesses and investing in tech and purpose driven enterprises. I find connecting with others via new ventures and investing rewarding and enjoy the connection that shared purpose provides.
Like most who attend TED, I am a deeply curious person and love the chance to connect with attendees and speakers.
My Story:
My entrepreneurial story began in 2001 when I co-founded Metalogix Software (exited 2014) and has spanned enterprise software, healthcare, venture capital, and corporate development.
In 2009 I began actively angel and venture investing, building up a portfolio of active operating companies via M&A and by launching new ventures. My venture investments have included enterprise SaaS, deep tech, health tech, CPG, and retail. I frequently syndicate investments. I co-invest with iNovia, Garage Capital, and Tiny.
I spent most of 2010 caring for my father who suffered a series of hemorrhagic strokes brought on by undiagnosed sepsis. It was a wildly intense time that provided a lot insight into caregiving challenges and the need for advocacy in the health care system. I am firm believer in power of the brain to adapt and heal and the implications of a positive mindset.
Over the years, I have been committed to supporting entrepreneurship and purpose driven organizations, serving on numerous boards, including the Victoria Foundation, where I was Chair and served on the Investment Committee, and the Community Foundations of Canada, where I am recently ended my 6-year term.
I currently serve on the board of the Daily Journal Corporation NASDAQ(DJCO).
