About Hossai

Bio

As a doctoral candidate in Health Systems, Knowledge Translation (KT), and Implementation Science at Macquarie University, I lead a valuable project implementing genomics technologies (testing the entire DNA set of a person) from research settings into the Australian healthcare system. I founded Future STEMM Leaders- an advanced professional and critical skill building program for exceptional PhD candidates. It also acts as a social change initiative combatting the gender, cultural and linguistic diversity gap in Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths, and Medicine (STEMM) leadership in Australia. It does this by providing capacity to diverse students. As Director of TEDx Macquarie University, I’m passionate about breaking silos via idea sharing and promoting ‘unheard voices’ to share their stories, connect and lead change in my community. Selected for the ‘Make Your Mark’ leadership group at Macquarie University, I lead a project to enhance the quality of student experience. In addition, I mentor local school children in science projects as part of the MyScience program and the National Science Fair. I’m a member of the Macquarie University ALLY Network, and work as an agent of change supporting LGBTIQ+ equality and inclusion.
