Sarah founded the Longevity Research Institute in 2018, a research nonprofit with the goal of discovering the first drug to extend life in humans. LRI funds translational biogerontology research and is developing a high-throughput, machine-learning-enabled drug discovery platform for anti-aging drugs. Sarah has built machine learning tools for Starsky Robotics (where she implemented algorithms for the first fully-autonomous self-driving truck), for drug discovery at Recursion Pharmaceuticals, and for cybersecurity at Palantir Technologies. She earned her PhD in mathematics from Yale, for research on machine learning on high-dimensional datasets and the dynamics of biochemical networks. She is also a published science writer, the co-founder of the online magazine Hourglass, and currently working on a book on the history of cancer research.

Good science. Transparency and openness. Creating abundance and affordability.

Aging might be preventable. The diseases of aging that kill most people worldwide -- cancer, heart disease, diabetes, Alzheimer's, and so on -- have common underlying causes at the cellular level, and we're learning how to prevent that damage with drugs and other treatments. It's been very hard to figure out how to cure these chronic diseases, but it could be a lot easier to prevent them.
