Bio

I am married to my high school sweetheart and am very fortunate to have a wonderfully close relationship with my teenage daughter. I am of Filipino and Italian background and love just about all the foods from both cultures. I am quite short and usually have to hem all my pants, even if I buy “short” or “petite.” I have been known to ask strangers to reach things for me at the grocery store. I love to laugh and can become a little loud when I get excited about telling a story or enjoying a good conversation. I grew up in New Jersey as a military brat and I still love to move around. I have found that most people hate to move, but I get itchy when I’ve been somewhere too long. I love the beach and my flip-flops, although I have a dreadful fear of deep water. I am at my happiest when everyone around me smells like sun tan lotion, the sun is shining, the waves are crashing, and I have my husband and daughter with me.

I'm passionate about

I have a love for stories. When we travel, books are our souvenirs. We listen to audio books during our travel time and seek out the independent bookstores in the places we are visiting. I was previously a teacher who enjoyed reading aloud to my students and doing different voices for each character. My dream is to one day write a story of my own. In the meantime, I hope to travel the world and meet new people, try new foods, and experience new traditions. I want to listen to people share their stories and take my turn in providing anecdotes and tidbits from my life. There is so much more to see and do in this world of ours. <3

The TED story

We have attended a TEDx at UCLA and will be attending a TEDx Salon here in San Diego. We often watch Ted Talks just for the fun of it. I have found new authors and book recommendations from watching TED videos. My daughter has also served as a curator for her high school’s TEDx event and will hopefully be the Lead Organizer for her Senior year.
